The World Health Organization recently provided updated 2011 data on the top 10 causes of death in the world. Their findings show that heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are still among the leading global killers. Indeed, the trends are towards even greater death rates from these ailments.

“This is why we come to work every day,” said Bruce McManus, CEO of the PROOF Centre of Excellence. “There is such a huge burden and such a great need for better heart and lung care and prevention.”
