Biomarker Discovery

The PROOF Centre’s biomarker discovery strategy uses a non-targeted approach, combining patient cohorts with distinct phenotypes and molecular -”omics” discovery platforms with proven computational strategies. At the end of the biomarker discovery phase, tens of thousands of ‘-omic’ markers are reduced to a classifier panel using a strategic tiered process.

These classifier panels include sets of genes expressed in whole blood, and proteins identified in plasma, and can be used to reliably and specifically separate groups of patients from one another. These classifier panels can be further combined to obtain proteogenomic classifiers.
